Improving Our Vehicle Fleet Reducing Emissions & Enhancing Efficiency

Over the last 18 months, we have replaced our entire vehicle fleet to reduce the carbon footprint of our waste collection service and to ensure we meet Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) standards. Our fleet now either have Ultra-low emission Euro 6 engines, which means they cannot emit more than 80mg/km of NOx gases or are completely electric meaning there are zero Co2 emissions.

This upgrade has significantly improved the performance efficiency of our vehicles, with the Euro 6 engines boasting some impressive stats:

• Emit 95% less Hydrocarbon (HC)
• Emit 90% less carbon monoxide (CO)
• Emit 87% less nitrogen oxide (NOx)

Our fleet strategy is now built around the transition to as fully electric fleet. As the range of vehicles improves, we will continue to procure additional EVs until all have been replaced and our waste collection service is completely carbon neutral. Our plan is to have a fully electric fleet by 2028.

All vehicles in our fleet have an on board Navman Telematics which monitors each vehicles environmental performance, along with driver behaviour in order to ensure they are driving in the most economical & environmentally friendly way. We also use map-based routing software to ensure every journey is made using the most efficient and safest route whilst cutting out road miles and Co2 emissions.
